Special Locations in BrutalSol

Beyond cities, BrutalSol features three unique special locations on the game board that add strategic depth and variety to gameplay. Each special location has distinct mechanics and offers players different challenges and opportunities.

Jail (Square 3)

Jail serves as a detention facility that temporarily restricts player movement and requires specific actions to exit.

Landing on Jail

When you land on or are sent to Jail:

  • Your movement is immediately restricted

  • You must choose a method to exit

  • Your player statistics record your jail visits

Exiting Jail

Players have three options to leave Jail:

  1. Pay Bail

  • Cost: 1 SOL

  • Effect: Immediate release

  • Pros: Quickest option, guaranteed success

  • Cons: Most expensive option

  1. Attempt Bribe

  • Cost: 0.8 SOL

  • Success Rate: 40%

  • Effect if successful: Immediate release

  • Effect if failed: Remain in jail, lose payment

  • Pros: Cheaper than bail if successful

  • Cons: Risk of failure and lost funds

  1. Wait

  • Cost: No financial cost

  • Time Required: Varies by vehicle type

  • Bike: 12 hours

  • Car: 18 hours

  • Boat: 24 hours

  • Jet: 36 hours

  • Rocket: 48 hours

  • Pros: Free option

  • Cons: Longest delay before returning to gameplay

Strategic Considerations

  • Higher tier vehicles face longer wait times, creating a tradeoff for progression

  • Bribing offers a gambling element with potential savings

  • When short on SOL, waiting may be the only viable option

Bunker (Square 14)

The Bunker serves as a safe haven and unique property that can be owned and monetized.

Bunker Mechanics

  • Initial Price: 0.5 SOL

  • Price Increment: 0.1 SOL per mint

  • Rent: Fixed at 0.05 SOL (not affected by radiation)

  • Health: Starts at 50,000 and can be damaged by players

Acquiring the Bunker

  • Players can purchase the Bunker when they land on it

  • Each mint increases the price for the next buyer

  • Ownership transfers to the new buyer when purchased

Bunker Interactions

  1. Owning the Bunker

  • Collect rent from players who land on it

  • Monitor its health status

  • Potential passive income source

  1. Landing on an Owned Bunker

  • Pay rent to the current owner

  • Option to purchase the Bunker from the current owner

  • Special protection from certain negative effects

  1. Damaging the Bunker

  • Players can use tax points to damage the Bunker

  • Reduces its health property

  • Strategic option to undermine a competitor's asset

Strategic Value

  • Unlike cities, the Bunker isn't affected by radiation levels

  • Provides consistent rent returns regardless of game conditions

  • Limited to one Bunker on the board, creating scarcity value

Tax Authority (Square 10)

The Tax Authority is a critical location for managing tax points and making strategic resource decisions.

Tax Authority Mechanics

When landing on the Tax Authority, players must take one of two actions before they can move again:

  1. File Taxes

  • Outcome: 50% chance of either:

  • Doubling your current tax points

  • Losing all tax points

  • Risk vs. reward decision with significant consequences

  1. Use Tax Points

  • Spend accumulated tax points for strategic purposes

  • Options include:

  • Contributing to cities to reduce radiation

  • Sabotaging cities to increase radiation

  • Damaging the Bunker

Tax Points System

  • Players earn 100 tax points per 1 SOL spent in-game

  • Tax points can be viewed as a secondary currency

  • Strategic resource for influencing the game environment

Strategic Considerations

  • Filing taxes is a gamble that can significantly boost or devastate your tax point reserves

  • Consider your tax point balance when deciding to file taxes

  • The Tax Authority forces players to make decisions about their accumulated tax points

  • Players must handle tax-related decisions before they can continue moving

Combining Special Locations in Strategy

Understanding how special locations interact creates advanced strategic opportunities:

  • Jail and Vehicle Type: Balance the benefits of vehicle progression against increased jail time

  • Bunker Ownership vs. City Portfolio: Consider the steady income of the Bunker against the variable returns of cities

  • Tax Authority and City Development: Use tax decisions to support your broader city development strategy

These special locations add variety to gameplay beyond city acquisition and force players to adapt their strategies based on where they land on the board. Mastering the unique mechanics of each special location is essential to success in BrutalSol.
